Here is a bit of a checklist to help when looking for your perfect renaissance wedding gown.

Corsets:
Corsets are not like most unusual wedding dresses. For a very long time, corsets have become a staple in undergarment for women from all walks of life.

Especially in the Renaissance era where tight fitting bodices and extra small waists were the much sought after assets of all beautiful women.

Long Sleeves:
Back in the day, it was almost a sin for ladies, especially ladies of the high court, to show their arms and legs in public. So, of course, long sleeves were a MUST.

That's why, if you're looking for a style with comfort, then it's best to wear your medieval wedding dress for a fall or winter wedding. Otherwise, your renaissance wedding dress may be uncomfortably hot.

A-Line Skirts:
Renaissance women were not all for ball or princess style gowns.

They actually preferred A-lined floor length skirts with a bit of volume.

While most of the wealthier brides preferred to have a little bit of a train, others would also want to skip the train, but just keep it a comfortable floor length.

Wide Necklines and Off Shoulder Designs:
Although legs and arms should not be shown if you choose to wear a renaissance wedding dress, women of the Renaissance era often showed their necks and sexy shoulders (probably to let people know that it was not only their waists that were size zero due to those tight corsets!)

With a wide neck or off shoulder design, you can show off your flawless shoulders and look smoking hot if you've got that 'to die for' cleavage.

Because this sexy neckline is complimented by long sleeves and long skirt, you don't have to worry about appearing immodest.

Lace Trimmings and Ribbons:
If you like the more frilly or elegant wedding dress look, then be sure to add lace trimmings and ribbons.

Lace and ribbons were so expensive in the Renaissance days that actually having those embellishments on your wedding gown, meant that you were super wealthy.

Of course, later on with the introduction of machinery, the production of lace and ribbons were much easier thus making it cheaper and more common.

Dual Color
Since we just finished talking about laces and ribbons, these embellishments were usually not the same color as the main material of a Renaissance wedding dress so the wedding gowns usually consisted of two colors.

However, if you're not comfortable playing around with colors, you can try an off white or ivory color for your laces and ribbons on a pure white gown.

Ebay is by far the best place to find a unique wedding gown like the Renaissance style. Check below for some great deals:
