Wear a Red Wedding Gown

...and Be Unforgettable!

Who says you have to stick to white when you can walk down the aisle in a red wedding gown?

In case you did not know, color wedding dresses are not at all that weird when you think about it.

Because before the late 1800's, a bride could choose any color and style that she would want for the big day.....so you could only imagine the unique wedding dresses and designs!

The white wedding gown we know now was popularized after Queen Elizabeth walked down the aisle in a beautiful white gown to marry Prince Albert.

Since royalty never really goes out of style, everyone seemed to want to wear white for their wedding day....thus igniting the start of a very long tradition.

A red wedding gown is what many people consider an ethnic wedding dress and is actually

red wedding dress quite popular in Asia.

The color red signifies happiness and good fortune especially in countries like China, India and Pakistan.

In these countries, since it is believed that red attracts the blessings of good spirits, red has been the color of these ethnic wedding gowns.

In addition, many people believe that red brings out the character of the bride.

Up to this day, the red wedding gown has not lost its popularity in Asia. As a matter of fact, a very popular singer in Asia known as Regine Velasquez (a.k.a. 'Asia's Songbird') wore a stunning red wedding gown when she married her long time partner Ogie Diaz.(see photo below)

In the West, there were a lot of unusual wedding dresses sported across all social classes.

Color wedding dresses often meant that you were wealthy enough to afford pigments and dyes for your own clothes.

In fact, in the early 1800's, red was only to be worn by royalty.

Color pretty much meant money. Also, it was not a rare practice to wear your wedding gown to other important events.

So, it was not uncommon to see a countess wear her red wedding gown to a formal dance ten years later.

But, later on as red became associated with 'women of ill repute', it gradually lost its popularity.

Hey, but no worries! It's back now!....and that 'women of ill repute' thing is no longer a stigma!

Another good thing about the return of the red wedding gown is that now it is also no longer restricted to only those of high class and royalty.

Now, everyone can find exquisite AND inexpensive wedding dresses of all colors and wedding dress designs, and you can even have wedding gowns customized to your liking.
