Medieval Wedding Gowns
If you have always fantasized about marrying your knight in shining armor
in a medieval themed wedding-- Chivalry is not dead!
Medieval wedding themes are one of the ultimate fantasy weddings and you can even have your groom dress in medieval attire as well as your bridesmaids for a unique wedding no one will ever forget.
Consider some of these styles.
Most medieval wedding dresses have either an empire waist, or more common is a low belt hanging around the hip
as seen here. Both of these designs are a great style for any body shape. Long puffy sleeves or draping angel sleeves are mostly seen in medieval wedding gowns.
Of course, most brides will choose a royalty or princess style dress, but you could also consider a peasant style with darker colors if you wanted a more realistic medieval wedding. Most brides like to choose a white or ivory medieval wedding dress. However, if you want to keep the gown true to the actual medieval style, you would want to go with a blue dress as blue was the color of purity in that time period— which is why we have the ‘something blue’ tradition today. Don't wear a veil as the wedding veil we know today was not a tradition during that time period. Bridal veils didn't become popular til after the Crusades. Instead opt for a ring of flowers or a tiara. Medieval wedding dresses are also great winter wedding gowns because they most commonly have long sleeves.
Consider a menu of meats which can be eaten without utensils to give your wedding a more realistic feel.
