How to Find an Expensive Looking Yet Affordable Bridal Gown

Wouldn't it be great to find a dress that looked like it cost you $3000 but actually cost only $300???

These days if you want an inexpensive wedding dress, the best thing to do is to go online to find one. And then, when you think you've found exactly what you want, you get cold feet because you're not sure if you can trust the company to deliver on what they've promised.

Most of these online wedding dress companies are in China. And many times they tell you that you'll get a great looking inexpensive wedding dress, but it turns out looking like crap!

I can't tell you how many horror stories I've heard about brides ordering a dress online only to be completely let down, just days before their wedding.

While living in Guangzhou, I discovered that it's really cheap to have a wedding dress made there. I had a friend who visited me and bought a gorgeous dress at a small shop- it was off the rack. It turned out to be a great experience because she saw it & could try it on.

However, later I tried to help out another friend who wanted a dress made. She wanted a stunning $3000 designer dress, so she sent me a photo so I could take it to a factory to have them make it.

So, eagerly I searched the wedding dress district looking for a reputable factory who would make inexpensive wedding dresses exactly like the photo of 'said designer dress'.

I chose a factory who was very honest and polite with me, they even showed me the production area where I could watch the dresses being made (no, there were no children with bloody little fingers working there--only adults). They even showed me finished dresses that looked absolutely stunning and boasted proudly of how much experience they had in this industry.

Most wedding dress factories in China are located in little ally ways just like this.

So, it was decided! I put my faith in this company that they would make the dress in the photo and it would end up looking like it cost $3000 just like in the photo. So, I gave them my money and they gave me their promises.

After about a month, I went down to the factory to take a look at my dress. I was so excited to see what they created!

When I turned the corner to see it...I almost cried...no, I'm pretty sure I did cry. The stupid dress looked absolutely nothing like the photo. The material was cheap and looked like plastic. It looked like my nephew had made it in pre-school! Great! Now what?

After they saw how upset I was they finally apologized profusely but it was a constant blame game as one person kept blaming the other and that person yet another. But they finally gave me my money back.

So the faithful friend that I am, I dilligently sought out yet another 'reputable' company. The same 'song and dance ensued'. They showed me their factory, they showed me other inexpensive wedding dresses they had made, they showed me the fabrics they would use. So, I placed my fate in the hands of yet another company.

After about 4 weeks, I called to see if the dress was ready--and can you even believe it?? THE SAME THING HAPPENED!

The dress looked like junk. It was not even fit to wear to the supermarket.

But, I decided to give it one last final shot. I searched and searched again and a friend told me of a great little factory that would do a great job.

I finally found the BEST factory!

I was not too excited about it this time but I begrudgingly went to check them out. I met the owner and the staff who were all very nice, saw the factory, saw photos but yet did not really believe they would deliver what I wanted.

About 4 weeks later, they told me the dress was ready.

I went to check it out not expecting too much ....and TA-DAH!!!

I finally found the right place! The dress not only was gorgeous but it looked even better than the photo! They used quality material, they took their time to measure it correctly, it looked like it was a $3000 dress.... and it actually cost only $350. Now THAT'S A GOOD DEAL!

I was simply thrilled. And my friend was ecstatic too, to say the least....(she better be after all this trauma I had suffered for her!)

Since that time, I've had several dresses made...and do you know that EVERY SINGLE TIME their dresses turn out incredibly gorgeous!

You can find good Chinese companies online who will make great inexpensive wedding dresses;however, the problem is that sometimes they'll produce a great dress but sometimes they'll produce a shoddy looking dress. Why would you want to take that chance?

Many times they'll offer very inexpensive wedding dresses, but 'buyer beware'! You get what you pay for. Don't think you're going to get a high quality satin dress for $99. That just won't happen. And do you really think that the factory workers are making enough money to care about if you like your dress or not?

Ok, here's the bottom line: I found a great factory in China who can make expensive looking, inexpensive wedding dresses! And you can actually trust them!
