Are Designer Wedding Dresses Worth the Price Tag?

Designer wedding dresses from the big names in New York, Paris, and Milan... are they truly worth the money?

I've always wondered myself what all the 'hoop-la' is all about!

Ranging from $1200-$20,000, these wedding dresses are exquisite and the most yearned for gowns on the bridal market... and, I agree they really are gorgeous.

Designer names such as Oscar de La Renta, Vera Wang,, Maggie Sottero, Justin Alexander,Carolina Herrera, Oleg Cassini, Christina Wu, Mon Cheri, Pronovias, Simone Carvalli, and Priscilla of Boston (see a complete list here) are all on the high priced list both in the boutiques and online.

With all the dozens of designer brands out there and unique wedding dresses to choose from, is it any wonder that brides-to-be are drooling over these deliciously beautiful selections?

And many of the famous celebrities choose designer wedding dresses because they can afford that expensive designer label. (see a few of your favorite celebrity brides here.)

Yes, designer wedding dresses are beautiful and very 'in'. But does this make them the right choice for you?.....

Are they really worth the money???? I mean, really no one will ever see that designer label on the inside except you and that dress will only be worn one day of your entire life. The markup for designer dresses is usually between 300-600%!

Designer brands often come in a more expensive fabric, and certain fabrics can be very costly. Designer inspired wedding gowns are a great option though if you're wanting a designer look without the heavy price tag.

However, part of the price is definitely the name brand. If you are buying a Vera Wang or Mon Cheri, for example, part of the price of the gown is in that label. (It's easier than you think to create your own designer wedding gown line with your own label too!)

So when you're deciding whether to choose from the many designer wedding dresses or a cheap wedding dress, what should you decide?
