Choose the Right Corset for Your Wedding Look

Bridal corsets have evolved over the years from being merely undergarments back in the day.

Now, they have become a very popular type of bridal lingerie.

And they've also gone from being only bridal underwear to now becoming bridal outer wear as there are many wedding dress designs that incorporate a corset into the bodice.

Yes, girls, with the advancement and very fast pace of the fashion industry, bridal corsets have become a staple in the wedding scene.

So, just what is a corset?

A corset is a tight-fitting undergarment constructed to shape a woman's figure. (As if we need one more thing to make us uncomfortable!)

Some corsets start from just below the breasts to the hips. However, in the bridal industry, corsets connected to a bridal bra have become more popular because these do not produce unnecessary bulges on the sides and back.

If you're planning to wear one as bridal underwear, just remember that bridal corsets cannot be worn for every type of wedding dress.

This bridal lingerie is best worn with gowns with high backs to hide the corset back, and lower necklines as the corset creates a nice cleavage.

The steel or plastic boning both in the front and the back help support the body to your desired shape. (Steel boning is preferred more than plastic boning for its durablilty, however it is also pricier.)

Also in order to avoid bulges on your dress, choose a corset with a smooth finishing.

As for the sizing, note that that the measurements come in terms of inches or centimeters and not your usual dress size.

Your desired shape and comfort will greatly depend on the size of your corset so be sure to make sure your measurements are accurate.

There are three points of measurement that should be taken: the bust, the waist ( at it's smallest point) and the hips (at its widest point).

When choosing your bridal corset, choose one with a waistline that is around two to four inches smaller than your waistline. Corsets are meant to cinch in and be doing this your will have ample room for the lacing at the back.
